Frequently Asked Questions

What is My Area Media?

My Area Media is a localized stock photo website for the modern business owner. We offer content you can’t find anywhere else with local niche content. We have flexible memberships and all our images are royalty free. My Area Media offers thousands of hand-picked premium images at ridiculously low prices that you will only find on myareamedia.com.

How does My Area Media work?

My Area Media creates a wide variety of images for projects of all sizes. All of our content is exclusive to our site, which means you will not see it on any other stock photo websites. When you download an image from myareamedia.com, you’re purchasing a license that enables you to use that image to market yourself or your business in nearly any way imaginable. All of our files are royalty free, which means they can be used in as many projects of yours that you want. While the standard license that comes with all our images is great for most uses, by purchasing an extended license a photo can be used in exponentially more ways.

Can anyone use the images?

Yes, if you are a business of 1 employee or less (self-employed, or independent contractor) you may buy a Bronze, Silver, or Gold membership or choose to buy images individually. If you are a company of more than one employee, you must talk to a sales representative about enterprise memberships. The images must be used for your personal usage, not for a business you work for or are affiliated with. For example: If you are a Realtor, you may use the images you download from your membership for your Social Media page. However the company you work for, and other agents must all have their own memberships to My Area Media to use the photos for their purposes.

Are all images offered A-La-Carte if I’m not ready to commit to a subscription?

Of course! We won’t judge you or your commitment issues, all our images are available A-La-Carte.

What does Royalty Free mean? Are all My Area Media images royalty free?

Royalty free means you, our valuable member has the right to use copyright material or intellectual property without the need to pay royalties or license fees for EACH use or per volume sold. Basically, you can post the images across multiple social media platforms, use on flyers and any other marketing materials and DON’T have to pay for each use. Yes all our images are royalty free with a membership or one time purchase, (aka. a la cart purchase) as long as they are used within the bounds of our licensing.

How often is the site updated?

The site is updated frequently, sometimes multiple times a day if there are events happening. We strive for multiple weekly updates.

With the membership how many photos do I get to download?

Downloads are unlimited, however many your little heart desires. But, you can only use the images during the duration of your membership. We don’t allow stock piling of images to be posted if you cancel. There is a 30 day grace period.

If I decide to cancel my subscription do I have to take down the photos I have used?

We would hate to see you go! No you do not have to take down images used during your membership. However, our images may not be used moving forward, if you choose to cancel your membership. Our team of photo ninjas track all our images.

If I have a subscription can I let my friend or business partner use the images?

Absolutely not. Not knowing these rules can get you in big trouble. The whole point of MAM is to ease your mind of copyright infringements. Use freely, but for your use only. Companies with more than 1 employee need an Enterprise membership.

Why aren't twilights, aerials or events included in the bronze membership?

These photos are a premium. You must upgrade to the middle tier (silver) to access these images. You can also purchase these images a la cart if you feel that you wont use them enough to upgrade.

If I have a silver membership, that is geared toward social media, does that mean I cant print?

You can print, just at your own risk! Just be aware that if you are printing for marketing use, you may need a higher resolution depending on the size of marketing materials being used because our Medium Resolution sizes are not optimized for printing, unlike our Large and Extra-Large sizes.

Why are events for editorial use only?

We have to classify events this way because we don’t have the time to blur out everyones faces, or review each individual image for a variety of things. These images often include news, sports and entertainment images that portray real-world people, places, events and things and are intended to be used only in connection with events that are newsworthy or of general interest (for example, in a blog, textbook, newspaper or magazine article).

Theres an area that isn't on the site, will you guys photograph it?

Yes, if there is a public area or community you are listing that isn’t already on our site and you can get our photographers access we will gladly shoot the area at no additional cost to our members. You can also vote on areas requested and the areas with the most votes, we will shoot in order of priority.

Can I modify the images?

You are welcome to modify photos and illustrations downloaded from My Area Media. Feel free to crop, cut out, flip, rotate, add text, edit colors, or apply any other creative effect you can think up. However, your modifications must not violate the content. View license agreement.
